Dj Lilf started Dj-ing in 1995, he used to listen to the Prodigy alot on his old hi fi on cassette, it was the sort of hi fi with a twin cassette deck and a turntable on the top for playing your old 45's, ;he remembers listening to No good start the dance by the Prodigy when he thought this track was missing something, scratching, so he found a old record lying around and placed it on the record deck and started to make a few scratch sounds over the top of the cassette, it was then when he thought about using another Prodigy track and putting it together with another by recording a certain part of a track, pausing it, then recording another part of another track, not quite mixing but it was learning him the basics of where to cut and mix tracks. ; A few months later he came across some old belt drive turntables (Memorex) and a Realistic mixer (Tandy special lol) and a box of records with house and hardcore records in 1988 - 92 era, which he found up the loft which used to belong to his brother who sadly passed away in 1992 aged 18 after a car accident. ; He remembers setting them up and trying to mix, it was a long and frustrating time before he learned himself to beat mix, he actually gave up trying to learn and just bought two seperate goodmans cd players and started buying cd's, to run a local disco in the the local pub which is where he happened to meet another mobile disco Dj who was selling a Soundlab cd player with pitch control, he bought the cd player which is when he started to try mixing again, he remembers sitting in his bedroom all day with this Soundlab cd player with pitch control and a goodmans cd player without pitch control and trying to mix, it was a nightmare as when he was mixing from the goodmans he had to adjust the soundlab pitch discreetly so nobody would notice, and by 1997 he was mixing perfectly on these two cd players, it was then he wished he had stuck with the vinyl and everything he had bought on cd would of been on vinyl and ok to use on his belt drives, then in 1998 a mate had bought some second hand decks which came with a load of up to date trance records which he sold ;him as he sold his decks after a couple of weeks of ownership, this is when he began using vinyl instead of cd's, he found the crowds used to respond better when they saw him using vinyl as it looks more hands on, more of an art, people used to pull up a chair and watch him as he mixed and scratched. ; He had mastered the art of mixing and could mix any genre and would often mix different genres together, he liked ;to tease the crowd and build them up for that certain track that would send them wild, although he used to mix ;trance his real love was with happy hardcore, but with the lack of record shops and transport to travel to ;record shops he just bought trance records, as its all his local record shop used to sell, but in his spare time he would listen to Helter skelter, ;Dreamscape etc tape packs, especially the Vibes and Livelee tapes, he used to love the way Livelee would hype up the crowd, ;but in 2000 he gave up Dj-ing although alot of friends would tell him he was crazy to do so as he had a good talent, but he wanted to settle down and get married and have kids, he kept all his equipment and records though. ; In 2004 he started working as a security guard with his old ;mate who had ;just bought some Stanton turntables, he told him that his other mate had just bought some decks to and not one of them knew how to mix and they used to have sessions mo
